Dear 5th Grade Families,

The 5th Grade Committee is excited to share that we are creating a special baby photo page in this year’s graduation yearbook to celebrate our soon‑to‑be graduates.

We kindly invite families to submit one baby photo of their child to be included on this page. Participation is completely optional, and all photos will be used only for the graduation yearbook.

Dear PS 2 Families,

We want to share an important resource from NYC Public Schools called Beyond Access, designed to support families of children with disabilities ages 3–5. This series helps families understand the transition from Early Intervention to Preschool Special Education, and from preschool to kindergarten services.

The next online session will take place on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, from 7:00–8:00 p.m. Families will learn about evaluations, timelines, eligibility, and how school teams and families work together to support young learners.

We have a few important updates to share:

🧦 Sock Drive – The deadline has been extended! The drive will now end this Friday.

🥕 City Harvest Donations – The last day to contribute is Monday.

🎉 Perfect Attendance – The final day for capturing perfect attendance is January 5th. Celebrations will be planned for that week to honor our students’ commitment!

Our Lost and Found is full! We've collected many items since the beginning of this year, including coats, sweaters, hats, glasses, lunchboxes, and water bottles. To help you identify anything that might belong to your child, we've attached a video.

If you recognize any of the items, please email Ms. Pinto ([email protected]) or Ms. Trinidad ([email protected]) with a detailed description. We’ll make sure your child receives the item to bring home.

Please claim items by February 13th. All unclaimed items will be donated so please reach out promptly.

Here are a few important reminders for next week:
🛑 No School – Monday, October 20 (Diwali Holiday) School will be closed on Monday, October 20 in observance of Diwali. Wishing all who celebrate a joyful and bright festival of lights!
🎃 PTA Pumpkin Patch – Wednesday, October 22. Students will have the chance to pick their own pumpkins. If you'd like your child to participate, please send their form and payment on Tuesday, October 21st.
🚗 D30 Trunk or Treat – Friday, October 24 at Astoria Park (Parking Lot). Get your costumes ready! District 30's annual Trunk or Treat event will take place on Friday, October 24 in the Astoria Park parking lot from 4:30 to 6:30pm. Come for treats, decorated trunks, and spooky fun for the whole family!
